Where does the stator post on the alternator hook up to on an externally regulated system? There is NOT a stator wire on the Ford harness (1972 Mustang) for the alternator. The stator wire is on the regulator, and goes to the ignition switch. What's going on here? I read a manual that says to put a wire from stator post on the alt. to the stator wire on the regulator. Is this recommended??? This is the link: http://www.painlessperformance.com/manuals/90501m/90501Sec08.htm#90501%208.1
Could someone please help me out with this? I hooked the stator wire up to the stator wire that goes off of the regulator (to the ignition switch) and the ignition would not shut the engine off! What is going on herE?
No, no it has an Alt. Guage though.. There is no other wire coming off reg. from the "S" pole. only one and it goes to the ign. system.
Thx. Allen!
ps. (I take it I don't need it then>?)
