Bad luck today...any advice?
If it's the flywheel my guess is you will need a new starter as well (sorry to say it). With the flywheel spinning at those RPM's when you stepped on it, it would have taken a big bite outta the starter. Thats why the buzzing or clicking sound, your starter is MIA.
Pull the starter, have a look. the shaft that the gear runs on is toast and the gear will not move forward which in turns stops the starter from spinning. The starter doesn't spin until the gear has moved forward and ingauged the flywheel, if it can't move forward it will not spin. But it will buzz or click.
