I installed a TCI C6 in my Chero and had the same issue with stacked shifting.

I had a B&M Megashifter I installed at the same time. I did not have the whineing issue. I just manually shifted the trans for the 2 1/2 years I had the tans and never had any isues.

I only pulled it to install a TKO600 which was my intention from the get go.

If your not opposed to manually shifting I would say just run it.

I have heard the tranmissions that come from TCI are intended for manual shift only and thus are the shift patterns are not set correctly.
