Well, they do look a bit crude in the pics, but appear to actually be special forgings and were then machined to final dimensions. These are no 'cheapie' parts and, although a bit crude looking, had to be expensive to make. Ever seen full compound machining like on the back of the 'block' in pic #1? Just like on factory spiders, that is expensive work. That's what leads me to think these are factory parts. Crude in concept but expensive to make.
I assume they didn't make many of these, and why I've never actually seen a set. What - maybe 100 sets for the racing program? These could also be from a big-time race shop back then, like Holman-Moody. But the shops rarely got into anything forged. Hmmm...
Any other thoughts?
