P/S rebuild

I have a 67 Fairlane, my Power steering control valve started leaking so I bought a rebuild kit from Auto Krafters without the sleeve kit. After putting it back togather it lasted about 200 miles then started leaking again. My question is, has anyone ever successfully rebuild one of these, did I screw up by not replacing the sleeve, and does anyone know of a supplier that offers the kit(or a rebuilt unit) reasonably priced? I hate to rebuild anything just to end up right back where I started.

I'd 86 the power steering. I took it off my wagon, and I like the way it feels much better. Less twitchy, more controlable. And no more leaks.

Parking isn't as easy, but even with the 16:1 box, a ProMotorsports bump-steer corrector (quickens the ratio), and 7" wide front tires, I don't have Popeye arms. I wouldn't recommend a small diameter steering wheel unless you're game for a work out, though.

I've been told there are directions for a rack and pinion conversion on the web somewhere.

Thanks guys,
I've thought about both routes, Manual or the Rack and Pinion conversion. I think in the long term I will probably go the R&P Route but in the mean time I would like to get the car back on the road so looking for a quick/cheap solution. I'd like to drive in the Nashville In. pony trails ride in May and I don't think I can get the conversion done by then. So I guess I might have to bite the bullet and buy a rebuilt unit.

Most of them leaked when they rolled off the assembly line.

You could just dissconnect the hoses. I got tired of the set up I had leaking, so I let all the fluid drain out and pulled the belt. It was still driveable, and the effort wasn't any worse than a manual car. Or you could put one of those manual adapters on, they aren't too expensive if you shop around.
