Comp Cam 270 magnum

I currently have the 280 magnum in my engine, But I think that the cam is a little on the big side considering my heads are stock. What is everyone's opinion on the 270 magnum cam. How is the idle, Is it still a rough idle in a ford small block? How is the power range? Thanks in advance.

One of the guys around here runs one in a 302 with ported 351 heads. Nice idle, not smooth, but not too rough. Pulls really hard in a 82 Mustang. He said he runs 12.2 on slicks and a gutted interior.

Comp Cam 270 magnum

Hey there. I installed a 270 magnum in my 302 with world jr heads (in my 65 fastback). It is real lumpy and goes very well. I could use a little more though and would like a 280. Seems to me the 280 might be a bit much for stock heads w/ small valves.

I ran one in a 302 w/ totally stock ''66 289 heads,w/ performer rpm,Holley 1850 600cfm.It was a bit lumpy at idle,but sounded nice,it ran well was very torquey.You should be happy with it.

the 270 is a good street/strip cam with the emphasis on street. a good compromise between the 268 high energy and the 280 magnum. i would however seriously consider a head upgrade to the windsor jr heads with the 270.

I'm partial to the XE series from Comp. My last engine had a XE262H and ran very well. My stock iron heads had 1.84/1.56 valves, and was gasket matched and slightly blended.
