Where does the stator post on the alternator hook up to on an externally regulated system? There is NOT a stator wire on the Ford harness (1972 Mustang) for the alternator. The stator wire is on the regulator, and goes to the ignition switch. What's going on here? I read a manual that says to put a wire from stator post on the alt. to the stator wire on the regulator. Is this recommended??? This is the link:

If your original harness did not come with the stator wire you can not connect it to the system. It's really not needed.

Did your car have a factory ammeter in it?

Hook "A" to the Batt
Hook "S" from the ign switch to the reg
Hook "F" from the VR to the Alt
and ground the system.
