Tie rod ends, 70 Mustang spindles on 67

I am having a little problem getting my tie rod ends to seat in the spindle arm. The spindles (with disk brakes) are supposed to be 70 Mustang; I have installed them on my 67 Mustang. Ball joints fit great, but tie rod ends (also 70 Mustang) will not seat deep enough to get a cotter pin in the castle nut. I knew from git-go that 67 tie rod ends are too small for the later spindles; thought all I had to do was get same year tie rod ends as spindle. Any ideas???

Sounds like the car may have been a 6 banger or equiped with the smaller tie rod ends........

You need a pair of 70 or later tie rod ends or bushings from Mustang Steve's site.........

http://www.mustangsteve.com/tierodbushings.html

there use to be a chart here or at another site but don't have the link any longer that listed what tie rod ends to use.....

Be careful the spindles aren't '68/'69 disc spindles that someone thought are the same as 1970's, they are not the same. They use the same calipers etc. but in 1970 Ford made the castings beefier. See if they have a D0 part number or a C8 part number cast somewhere. If they are C8 the bigger '70 tie rod ends may not go in deep enough to seat the taper and expose the cotter pin hole. HTH Stu
