I am about to convert a TBI thunderbird to a carb setup. I already have the performer intake and carb, and a malory distributer and coil. I have been trying to decide weather to get an electric or mechanical fuel pump. If I get a performer mechanical fuel pump, will I have to run a fuel return line?
the return line is a good idea as it sends hot gas back to tank ,and cold back to carb, helps against vapour locks , on mechanical pumps not needed, even electrics will work without them, but they are worth the time to install. The 1973 302 f150 trailor package ,i owned had a return line on it from factory, but back than ,didn't know any better and thought it wasn't needed ok bill
Nah don't worry about with a mechanical pump. You can do it if you want with the electric. I imagine you already have the return line to the tank already, so I would hook it up just to extend the pump life, and keep the strain off of it.
