I just finished my new fuel system with -8AN from the sump to the regulator and -6AN from regulator to carb. I also have a Holley blue with regulator.
The instructions with the regulator says it's factory set at 14psi, which is too much for me.
How much should I turn the adjustment screw back before I fire the engine.....1/2 turn...full turn? I want it at around 6psi for now.
HI
What kind of fuel pump you running????
Machincal, Electric???
If it Electric then just turn on the pump and watch the prusher gage (OH maybe you don't have one)??? if its too much turn it down shut it off prusher should drop then turn it on again and see where it is then.. if its machincal or stock I don't think you need to worry as they only have 3-7lbs...

I got it started up tonight! There were no leaks at all! That holley pump is noisy as hell! I hear it over the exhaust inside the car!
We're talkin 2.5 exhaust with single chamber flowmasters!
I set pressure at 6psi, let it warm up a little and then noticed it dropped to 4psi. I turned it back up to 6 again and it dropped again!
Did the same thing all over again until it stayed at 6psi.
I went to turn the idle speed down just a tad and it make a noise almost like a detonation ping. When it turned it back up, it went away. What was that pinging sound? Is it going to want a certain idle speed now? I didn't notice what the rpms were at though.
One thing that I will HAVE to figure out later on is why my fuel gauge doesn't work anymore. I made sure I plugged the original sending unit back into the tank when I put the tank up. I checked the fuses and they're all good. I don't know but I need a gauge!
A test drive is going to have to wait until tomorrow or the weekend.
What are you using for a fuel pressure gauge? I started with a brand new one from summit. It kept creeping down on pressure on me so I kept upping the regulator adjustment. Then it went into a flood and I found out the cheapy gauge was bad. Bought a liquid filled Holley fuel pressure gauge and had to back the regulator down. Make sure you have a quality gauge. As for your fuel tank sendor/fuel level in dash gauge, I bet you lost your ground. Mustangs have two plug-in areas. One right at the sendor and the other fight at the rear bumper area of the car. Start by checking that both are connected well before chasing gremlins because this is more than likely where they are if the fuel gauge was fine before you sumped the tank.
Yep, I have a new summit gauge also. Today, after my first test drive, I came back and the gauge read zero!
I guess I'm going to have to invest in a better gauge.
I thought this would be a decent gauge because it was liquid filled. I'll have to check tomorrow for grounds I may have overlooked.
