Rumored to have the seats sunk far into the head. Flow numbers have been dissapointing. I would opt to find a set of old discontinued A-429's for cheap

Just repeating what you hear or have you used them yourself??
They are not junk, the seats are fine, flow numbers are excellent for the money invested. You want better flow numbers pony up the extra grand or more for heads with better flow numbers, or have them ported and save much $.
Just make sure you get them from a supplier that checks them out before they send them, much like I would insist on with any head I buy from Ebay.
I still don't understand the hate for ProComp heads when so many people from every aspect of racing are using them very successfully.
FYI They also go by PBM, Strikeforce and probably other names as well.

procomp 460 heads
Why not go with a set of "tried and true" heads like AFR, Canfields, Edelbrock, Trickflow...something you already know that is good quality.
I don't have any experience with the Procomp heads but I did hear good and bad reports about them. It just the luck of the draw..maybe you'll get good ones or maybe you'll get two nice boat anchors.
I don't understand if these procomp heads are "supposed" to be so good then why the need for several different names for the same heads? It seems like an attempt to hide a bad reputation so they keep changing the name, which is a typical scammer stunt!

Is that sarcasm? It's so hard to tell on the web, but those look like crap to me... at least as far as aftermarket heads go.

You are judging an entire product line by one combustion chamber of one head?
Mine looked fantastic and work fantastic, plus I dont see anything in that picture that would make the head perform any less. Hell that may be a protopline or hammerd AFR for all we know. Show a pic of an un-used head if your going to boast.

ya I went scouring the internet for junk combustion chamber pics LOL. If that showed up at my door I would laugh. Are they still 2.08/1.65 valves sizes? If so thats hilarious. They dont hold a candle to the street heat TFS, they may be a decent street head, but need plenty of work to be competitive. Flow numbers as casted are dismal in my opinion for a big ford head. That copies the D0VE intake port and tried to replicate the TFS exhaust without getting hammered on more patent infringement issues. You can have em' Heres another fake pic of the chamber LOL

procomp 460 heads
i went with the rpm head as a street head with no complaints and am looking at stepping up to something better, and at 66 us cents for every nz dollar i invest im not tempted to try my luck with these procomps, ive seen a couple of places online trying to sell them as australian cast heads, thats just not true.
ive got a friend that went through 3 sets of these [small block ford versions]before he gave up.id like to see some dyno numbers using an out of the box set of these.
FWIW,i expect a good product when i lay down my readies, and there are just too many horror stories associated with procomp anythings!!!
better off just going with a head that is proven, same with manifolds etc....

Hey woody, those heads iron or aluminum? They look iron to me.
Honestly though, I wonder why those heads look SO much worse than the small block heads? My small block combustion chambers are actually quite nice. I'll see if I can get a picture up tomorrow.

This is just opinion, and not meant to add any hard facts about Pro Comp heads, but I'll never understand why anyone restoring/racing/restomodding classic American Iron would bolt on Chinese parts.
