Sealing NPT brake fittings

What if anything can be used to help seal NPT fittings that are used in a brake system?

I have a NPT T-junction that threads into the bottom of the line lock and the T needs to be oriented correctly. I risk breaking the fitting if I attempt to tighten it another 90 degrees.

I have tubes of Permetex thread sealer (#1 and #2), the instructions list everything under the sun except brake fluid.

Re: Sealing NPT brake fittings

I installed a Hurst Line Loc a couple years ago and out of all the fittings only one required any sealer,, I used teflon tape making sure it was not interfering with the opening,, Its been in there for a couple years now and no leaks, I've used teflon sealer for other stuff (like Oil) but thought tape would be the better option for brake fluid

Re: Sealing NPT brake fittings

Use pipe dope on pipe threads. If you misuse teflon tape it will end up in your system and evetually cause a leak.

Re: Sealing NPT brake fittings

Brake systems should use flare fittings, not pipe threads. No sealer needed if you use the correct hardware.

The line lock comes with pipe to flare adapters. Pipe thread into the unit needs pipe dope to seal it.
