3 wire distributor??? 460

I have been collecting 460 parts for a swap into my 72 torino. Recently picked up an accel bluepring distributor # 9205 This unit is a non points set up. It is a direct replacement 1974-1980 ford trucks.
there are 3 wires with a plug. The question is... How do I wire this in my torino? Its assumed that I will probably remove this 3 wire connector. but where do the three wires go? is one a ground and then pos and neg on the coil? Do i need some kind of ignition box to run this set up???

Please help

thanks
Andrew

The dizzy is for the Ford Duraspark and Duraspark II ignition systems.

Can be adapted to use MSD or other aftermarket ignition systems.

If it is a stand-alone distributor the three wires would connect to the coil and ground. Red to + side of coil, green to - side of coil, brown to ground.

edit: reread your post. You may need an ignition module in which case the Accel 300+ with the built in rev limiter would probably be a good choice. Mine works great.

Now I think I got it. So it's not a stand alone distributor, I need the ford ignition module, and to wire it accordingly. Now for just 1 more Question. What if any is the difference between stock ignition modules from different cars? As im looking up this part I get different part numbers, but they all have the same wire configuration! Is the module for 1 year or model more desireable?

Thanks guys all the help is appreciated as usual !!!

Dont cross the two wires from the magnet. It will mess your timing up.

Re: 3 wire distributor??? 460

HI
the module with the blue band is the most commonly used... or you can buy an MSD module and wire it accordingly to the instructions.
good luck
