Tip-in hesitation on your period car is usually an accelerator pump issue or a dist. advance issue.
If not happy with the DURASPARK II conversion, a PERTRONIX II install will give you what you want with it's being inconspicuous. The engine will appear factory with a hot ignition.
An aftermarket ignition system is not needed (IMO). If you have a road failure, where do you find parts quickly?
