Re: edelbrock 1406 carb.

I saw the web site, but the tech. told me to connect to the left side. There isn't any emissions junk on my motor. He said that the right side was for timed vacuum and the right side was full vacuum.

Re: edelbrock 1406 carb.

That would be right if you are tuning a smog enegine. If not you should do as the tech-guy told you, only problem is that he didn`t tell the wholr story.

Here`s the place to find good info:

Re: edelbrock 1406 carb.

I am running my advance off the port on the passenger side of the carb. No vacuum at idle. It is an Edelbrock 1406. The article is very informative, and you can try both ways to see how it works for your application. I ran another engine with the advance hooked up to full vacuum which helped smooth the idle due to the camshaft characteristics.

Re: edelbrock 1406 carb.

The engine won't care which port you connect to but if you have problems idling then the manifold vacuum port will help the idle more than the ported vacuum. Manifold vacuum drops when you start to accelerate so it will retard as soon as you begin to accelerate so above idle it will make no difference.
