I have the Holley tuning CD, and it has several examples of vacuum readings. The one that most resembles what mine looks like indicates a sticking valve. So, I now have the balancer marked again with a timing tape that quarters off the balancer (I sealed it down with high temp clear this time, so thanks for those who gave me that tip to keep the timing tape on!) So over the next week I will try to go through and readjust the valves if time/weather allows and see if that fixes the surge issue. If it does, I will post here and basically end this thread. Finally had a chance to work on it more today. I re torqued the intake manifold bolts, and the surge went away. Even though it is an aluminum intake, I went to 30 foot pounds torque. Most books and intake instructions say 22-25 foot pounds. I'll do another plug check after awhile, but I believe the issue is fixed. If not, I'll start a new thread.
