T-stat housing sensor-1969 Ranchero 302

Hi guys, I am an early V8 owner/enthusiast but recently agreed to get a relative's 1969 Ranchero running after an engine fire. The car has been setting up for about 6 years since the fire and in that time someone has removed the burned remnants of the wires. The wiring around the perimeter of the engine bay is not damaged. So far I've determined that I need an"engine gauge wiring harness". Although I've not found one specifically for a 1969 Fairlane/Ranchero there are many for small block engines in other Ford cars such as mustang and I figure that they are the same except for minor details. My question is about the sensor mounted in the thermostat housing. The harnesses I find don't have a wire for it. What does it do and is it connected in another harness? If so, what is the name of that harness?

Any advice, comments, and tech help is welcome

In the thermostat housing you would think it would water temp sensor, or could that be a vacuum switch? Post a picture. My '70 351 has a vacuum switch in the waterneck that is used for a vacuum line for cold start retard on the distributor. Maybe what you are looking at is similar and does not have a wire to connect?

Someone else has since mentioned the vacuum valve, but this one has a spade electrical terminal on it. Who know what has happened in the years since? Thanks for your interest and reply.

I have a picture and have gone "advanced" but don't see how to post it.

Maybe that was installed there to plug the hole? If there are no leftover wires to connect to it and all your other lights and gauges are hooked up, then maybe it is not needed. IDK.
