Sorry I already posted this ? Tci c-4

I have a 1930 Model-A Pickup that has a older TCI C-4 that has been in the truck since I built it about 25 yrs ago. I use to take it to the strip once in awhile but it is on the street most of the time. It has sit for a few yrs in my shop only driven a few times in the last 5 yrs, the last time I took it out I lost Rev. & 3rd gear. And the trans is about the only thing I have not messed with someone told me to use the Lucas trans fix well I tried it and still nothing. Is the C-4 that hard to put a soft repair kit in I have done all the maintenance on it over the yrs. I just have never taking one all the way apart I am 62 now and its one thing I have not done myself. I would like to fix it myself this time but funds are a lot harder to come by than they use to be. And all the little local shops want 8 or 9 Hundred to rebuild it. The C-4 is the TCI Street Fighter with a 2500 stall converter. Thanks for any info

Re: Sorry I already posted this ? Tci c-4

The seals in automatic transmissions tend to become hard and not seal with age. Especially with cars that aren't driven regularly. We used to add brake fluid to soften up the seals. It worked on some but it's only a bandaid. On yours it sounds like one of the seals is split on the reverse/high clutch. C4's are pretty simple and I would think if you don't see anything burned up a seal kit should get you back on the road.
