67 Fairlane Radio the same as 67 Mustang?

I found a company that make a vintage looking and fitting modern radio that I want to put into my Fairlane but they only offer them for mustangs. Is the radio the same?

no. the mustang radio dial face on the fairlane is behind the lens of the whole cluster.
the mustang radio is not.

there are companies out there that will retrofit your stock radio to modern guts.. not entirely inexpensive, tho....

no one makes a stock replacement for the 66-67 which really bites. I didn't want to cut up my dash to accept another radio so I put in one of those secret audio radios that's remote. They cost a bit and work fine, the only problem I see with them is there's so many wires for so many different hook ups.....I Pods, USB and what ever those other things are that store songs on them. There advertised in a lot of the Mustang catalogs.

I just hang a standard cd player under my dash. considered hiding in glove box, justhavent done it. you can buy the plastic surround that a new receiver will fit in at places like fry's, best buy, most stereo specific shops. cheap too.

What are the names of the companies that retro fit an original radio with modern guts?
I couldn't find any when I searched for them...:-(

Re: 67 Fairlane Radio the same as 67 Mustang?

I looked through their site and couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I found regular radios for 1968 and newer but nothing for 1966.
I need a place that can take my 66 radio and install modern guts. The 66 has a unique radio. A 68 radio won't work.

Those who say it can't be done should not interrupt those that are busy doing it.

I just looked, they still list Ranchero from '64-'70. 1967 Ranchero has same dash. Should be what you need.

Excellent. Thank you.
I didn't know a 64-70 Ranchero had the same dash/radio.
I give them a call ;-)

Re: 67 Fairlane Radio the same as 67 Mustang?

two types of ranchero very close together, half way thru 67, they switched from the comet body to the fairlane body, the comet dash fits a mustang radio, the fairlane is still behind the clear cluster lens.
don't get ripped off. find a good pic of 67 fairlane dash, and a 66 comet dash and you will see the difference is clear.
I know you don't have a ranchero, but the listing 64-70 is wrong, unless you take a hack saw to your fairlanes dash,

Try Retro Radio Restoration, sounds pricey but interesting. Think it's retroradio.biz

All I did was look in their catalog and assumed that they know what they had for sale. They listed Ranchero '64-'70, and I know for a fact that a 1967 Ranchero has the same dash as a '66-'67 Fairlane. That companys 1967 Ranchero radio is going to fit a Fairlane dash.
