Disc brake conversion

Anybody with a 64 Fairlane ever swap spindles off a 65 T-Bird?

Re: Disc brake conversion

Why would you want to do that?

Re: Disc brake conversion

I like disc brakes better than drum. It's cheaper to swap factory stuff than buy $500 kit.

Re: Disc brake conversion

Ah, I see now. I don't know if they will work or not?

Scarebird has brackets to fit disc under 14" wheels or 15" wheels. They claim it can be accomplished for under $250 or under $350 depending on which size you go with.

Or find a Granada setup.

Re: Disc brake conversion

I like the kits advertised at top of page.
I will be contacting them about my 64 Fairlane.

Re: Disc brake conversion

I used T Bird spindles on my 64 Galaxie. I did NOT add a power brake booster. I really like the feel of the brakes without it. Before you step up to a power brake booster remod, try it. You may be pleasantly surprised and save a few bucks and performance vacuum.

Re: Disc brake conversion

If memory serves me correctly, STAY AWAY from the T-Bird parts. Even if they are all free. The part I believe are a lot of one year only parts and replacement parts will cost you a lot more in the end/beginning if there not new to start with.
