Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Thank for the info , I was thinking that the " K " in the engine code would mean that it was the 289 Hi-Po motor, not shore what " ordering info in house " Means ?

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

For workers on the line info
Yea, I perked up when I saw the K too, but,
its in the wrong place in the code,I guess As I think Bob would have Called/tweeted/texted/phoned right away, if this meant a K-code car.
But, you can get much more info from Bob Mannel, who wrote the book, The small block Ford, litteraly.

Thanks again for the info ,Where did you get the 65C from , I see 65L ?
So a C-4 is a automatic ? 3 or 4 speed ?

By looking at a fairlane car , what are the tell tail signs of a "K" code car ?? From what I have read is a 4 barrel cab. / 4 blade aluminum fan / distributor is dual points / chrome valve covers ??

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Called a ford dealer today , gave him the numbers on this tag, could not match the serial # up with anything, he says that the Serial # // Vin # should be a 11 right number and it should be on a plate right under the on in my picture and it would be a tag saying warranty number , I will have to look this car over more carefully to see if I can find any other numbers on it.

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Not to step on toes but royster miscopied some of Bob's info. If you plan on keeping this car I suggest joining the FCA for there is a wealth of info with the club and besides Bob Mannel there is allot of Ford workers that are retired that belong. The new younger people at the Ford dealers only know info in their computers and this being a Canadian car even makes it more difficult . 865B 8=8cyl /65B = sport coupe /65L 65= 1965 and L = left hand drive

Oops, sorry bout that, Fomoco is right,& also right about Fairlane Club of America, I would have never found parts for my Sport Coupe without the For sale section in the club magazine or known I had an original 221 V-8 for that matter!

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Ok, got out and took another look at this car , looked all over it trying to find a Vin # or warranty # , nothing . I do know that the car is a 1965 ford fairlane 500 sports coupe.
I did find the owners manual / maintenance book and registration papers in the glove box. The owners manual had some numbers in it : TRANS.# PCWAD289-5D30C3
DIFF. # WCLH1 ( this 1 may be an I ) 300-D25
Serial no. 865B-65L-817557
Engine no. SF15612
Then it also had a Ignition key # and a Luggage Comp. no.
The 289 engine is a 4 barrel carb. , dual exhaust , I did pull the distributor cap and it had a single point set up. So I am not shore what engine code this car is. ??

This car was parked 34 years ago , inside a dry building , for its age its in fairly good shape , only rust to be seen is a little paint chips on back seam of drivers door and behind rear tires , all chrome is in good shape , the red leather interior is in good shape (2 small ripe in seam of drivers seat ) . Unless some of the bird sh!t on the paint has ruin the paint , this car would look really good with a good wash / wax job.

This trying to find out what this car is and what it would be worth as it sits, AS THE GUY WANTS ME TO MAKE AN OFFER ON IT, if anyone can give me any insight on this that would be great.

Thanks

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Pictures would help.

My Falcon was parked in the early 70's. But, the mice had made nest in the cowl vent hats, under the rear seat and the drivers side quarter behind the wheel. All of the those areas required extensive rust repair.

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

Thanks, I was very surprised on how good of shape this car in in , I did check under the rear set as well as lifting the carpet to check the floor , as well as looking under the car and in the engine bay and trunk , still has the paint on the inter fenders in the engine bay and trunk, I checked the wiring and does not look like there is any damage, I know there will be a lot of unknown or unseen problem that will come up, once into it.
Just trying to get an idea on what its worth , as the guy wants me to make an offer , he said he was planning on restoring it , but after 34 years of sitting he know he will not do it and would like to see someone do it ( and he liked the fact that I live only 15 minutes away and that I am not looking at it to flip it for cash , he also knows where there is another one ( not a sports couple ) but it does have the same color leather inside and a lot of the parts are the same , so if I do get it I can go look at the other one to see what it is .
So were should I start at what to offer , I do not want to over pay for it ( he may be thinking a lower price then me ) OR I don,t want to insult hime with a low ball number .
Thanks

Here are a few picture , I am ok with what I know about the car ( I can find out more about it later ( will join the FCA ) ) just need a starting point on what to offer for this car.

What you see on the car is dust and bird sh!t and same mud down the drivers side , its not rust

Re: Looking for info on this Fairlane

The value of this would be determined by what you expect as end result and your ability of doing your own work. In my area this would be $2500 to $3500. With these cars and your checkbook the sky is the limit but my objective is not to loose money. The TV shows of today have caused allot of high prices but not in reality . This having people over investing . Just my .02
