I finally got a 64!

I usually hang out in the Galaxie forum. I just acquired a 64 2 door hardtop. It is rough as can be, but it is mine. I will have tons of questions, and I will be doing my best not to be annoying. It is a factory v8 car with a 3 speed on the column. The clutch pedal is still in it. It has an automatic column in it now. No engine or transmission. So far I have a 302 roller motor and a C4. I need to find the engine mounts, transmission crossmember and several patch panels.

Re: I finally got a 64!

Those are sweet looking cars. Last year I was looking for one of 3 cars to pick up. 61 Starliner, 63 Galaxie or a 64 Fairlane like yours. Ended up with a Starliner so I'm not disappointed. Still look at 64 Fairlanes for sale though. Working at a gas station back in 67 one of the guys there had one like yours. 289 4sp. It was sweet. Good luck with it.

Re: I finally got a 64!

Does anyone have pics of the engine mount parts I am missing and the transmission crossmember?

Re: I finally got a 64!

Mac;s auto parts catalogue shows motor mounts, pics of them-1962 to 64 Part #- 42-34667-1 for 221,260, 289 for $40.25 ea.
Upper donut is extra- at $17.95 part # 42-48638-1
I;ve looked over a lot of the early F;lanes-62-65's & never run across a 3 on the tree car, cool.
I may have the stock V-8 X-member, replaced it when we went to a stroker motor.
For parts you may want to join the Fairlane Club of America club, the site alone for parts be well worth the 35 buvks a year & you get a magazine, The Fairlaner every 1/4.
Lots of "how to's" & guys who know these cars inside & out
Good Luck

Re: I finally got a 64!

You can get the pyramid shaped rubber mounts and the donuts from a six cylinder car. you will still be missing a plate that bolts to the pyramid mount and the bracket I see in your car plus the upper bracket that bolts to the top of the rubber and the block. Don't worry if the upper bracket is only six inches from center to center since you can add an inch on one end to make them seven inches center to center like the later brackets.

Here is a link to a tiny picture. Hold your Ctrl key down and keep hitting the + key until it is big enough to get a better idea what you are looking for. When you are done, hold down the Ctrl key and then keep pressing the - key until the screen is back to original size.

Here is what it looks like installed. This is a seven inch center to center mount to match your engine bolt holes. http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...2_original.jpg
