Re: 1965 fairlane 500 sports coupe build

This is were i found the car about 15 years ago, we were renting pasture there for our horses, I did not ask about it to much as i thought they would never sell it.
Well after 15 years I drive past I drive past and seen that the sign with the family name was still at the end of the driveway even though i know the gentleman that we rented from had past away, so i stopped in and found the car was still there( the owner of the car was a son in-law of the man that past) Got a hold of him ( Dan ) and asked about the car and we got together and over a month or so made a deal on the car , Thanks Dan

I picked the car up on Dec 23 or 24 2016 , started snowing , but hooked the hotsy up to wash the bird and cow **** her

In the garage drying off, My older son Weston thinks it his .

Re: 1965 fairlane 500 sports coupe build

Pulling the engine and trans, should note that even after sitting 35+ years the engine fired right up after changing the points and condenser, changing the oil, oil fitler , fuel filter, she sounds really good with the dual exhaust with blue booms, no smoke or knocks. Going to repaint motor back to factory colors

Mar. 22-26 2017 , started taking her about , removed all running gear , gutted most of the inside

Re: 1965 fairlane 500 sports coupe build

Ready to start sand blasting complete underside of car , engine bay and the floor and trunk inside, only found some small pin holds in the passenger rear floor, looks like water came in from a few small pin holds in the rear wheel well

These are some pictures showing the progress in the sand blasting

Have some more work with the grinder ( wire wheel ) to remove some of the old rock guard coating and a little sand blasting. just waiting on my supply shipment from Eastwood products ( fast etch, pre paint prep) before laying down the endura epoxy primer, seam sealer and then new rock guard .Also have Eastwood heat, sound deadening for floor, door and roof. The engine bay and engine paint is going to be Eastwood Ceramic paint. Also have a order in with Rod and Custom Motorsports for the disc brakes, power booster/master cylinder is coming for Master power brakes, Just got match samples back for the carpet and headliner from Stock interiors and this got vinyl match samples back from Mac,s Antique auto parts for a drivers seat covering( will be placing these order next month )

Epoxy for sandbasted metal etch primer is not, go over your sand blasted metals with the epoxy primer directly!

Re: 1965 fairlane 500 sports coupe build

I have to use the Eastwood fast etch to remove some flash rust , then wipe down with some pre prep paint cleaner, then the epoxy primer, then seam seal the seams?

Re: 1965 fairlane 500 sports coupe build

Well it been like XMas here this week , got the disc brakes for Rod & Customs Motorsports, Got the Power booster/master cylinder from Master Power Brakes, Got the speaker pod kick panel from Rhino Fabrication ,New rear springs, Ordered the carpet, floor mats, cloth windlace , trunk mat and headliner for Stock Interiors , and just placed a order today at Mac,s ( new front seat covers ( only the driver side is bad, but have to buy as set )) new front coil springs, front and rear shocks, New aluminum Rad., and a bunch of other stuff. The cross border shopping is killing me (shipping and the Canadian dollar )But sh!t has to get done, My Eastwood order ( paint, Sound Deadening ) should be here late this week , Just have to get the wiring that I need to run for the sound system ( amps etc will have to wait for now )
What do you think of these rims ? http://www.visionwheel.com/wheel.cfm?id=1134
Also looking at these headers https://www.sandersonheaders.com/san...eader-set.html
