63 4 door seat frames.. and 64 covers?????

Hello, new member here.

My son and I are just starting a resto-mod on a 1963 500 4 door. We're building it so my son can drive to high school (and hopefully complete with the rich kids' BMW's). We're upgrading disc brakes, shoulder harness etc. I want to really clean it up nice, sorta original and slightly lower with all the factory chrome, wide steelies thin trim rings and poverty caps.

We're just now trying to figure out where the parts are going to come from and we've got just about everything figured out except for finding original looking seat covers for it. I've found a company that makes a OEM set for a 64 500 4 door which looks close enough that no one would really notice the difference.. Local upholstery shop wants $1800. (He must think he's on Gas Monkey garage.)

My question is are the seat frames the same between 63 and 64 4 doors? Hopefully somebody's really knowledgeable or they got a Hollander interchange for those years.

Really appreciate the help!

Ahh, Its my Gramma's kah..

I have a 4 door 62. I think the same seats are in the 63 and 64. I reupholstered my seats my making new center pieces for the front and the back using the same original vinyl. I used a 1932 commercial sewing machine. If I can do it, you can too.

On my car's web site, is my complete build from 6 years ago, and includes a few seat rebuilding videos. Here's the first video in the seating series. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=wDqOjlEfp_Q

When I purchased my car, it was ready for the junk yard. Now, I'm not all the way done, but going to shows, and driving my 1962 4 door Fairlane. Hope my videos can help, and my car's web site. www.62fairlane.info

I once snorted Coke, but the ice cubes kept getting in the way.

Re: 63 4 door seat frames.. and 64 covers?????

I hope your right. I'm looking for a Hollander book or OE Ford parts manual to confirm the seat frames are the same.

I can really appreciate doing the covers myself but I'd much rather take an afternoon to recover some seats with $450 OE looking covers than trying to go through all that.

I'm hoping to have it solid and back on the road by the end of Aug.

Here is a parts interchange PDF I found last year. It has come in VERY handy. Let me know if it works for you. Make sure you download a copy, it takes a long time for dropbox to load an almost 1000 page document.
