Anyoneattempt 289/AOD into 60-62 falcon/comet?

In about a month from now (beginning of march) I'm pulling my 170/3spd and installing a 289 w/AOD in my 62 comet wagon. Has anyone done this swap? I've heard you need to weld in a mustang tranny hump. Others said the AOD would fit with modification to the original tranny hump. I know that the early falcons have smaller tranny tunnels than the later 54/5 models. Which V8 motor brackets to use; early 65 or 66 and newer?? I've already upgraded to V8 front discs/steering and have an 8" rear. If anyone has done a similar swap please send any advice over; I'd like this swap to take as little time as possible. Thanks, Chris

The early model cars do have a smaller trans hump. The AOD can be installed into your car but the hump will need some massaging. A AOD trans mount will need to be fabed.

What kind of massaging? Is it easier to just cut out the hump and weld one in from a mustang? Thanks for the info.

The mustang one be the easyest. Hell i had to beat the hell out of my 60 just to run a 4 speed.

Not sure about the AOD, but a small bell housing C4 fits behind a 302 in a '61 Falcon without any trans tunnel massaging. AOD bell may be bigger however.

The AOD is a larger trans all togetherI do not know how much massaging it will need. I know it will fit. Remember, the AOD will drain some HP out of the overall power of the car. But it will be good for overall economy.
