65 Comet dual master cylinder upgrade

I have a 1965 Comet Cyclone with power brakes. I'd like to install a dual master cylinder for safety. I would rather not switch to discs. Does anyone know for sure what part I need? I know there is a difference between power and manual, and disc and drum master cylinders. I'm willing to lose the power brake booster to make room if necessary. Any facts would be greatly appreciated. I need to know my car will stop. Tim.

Re: 65 Comet dual master cylinder upgrade

I did a dual master cyl. swap on my '64 Falcon with manual disc/drum brakes.
I used a disc/drum manual master cyl. for a '67 Mustang. You can go to Autozone and buy it there, get the "Bendix" one. Should be less than $75.

If you got to The Ford Falcon NewsTFFN) Classic Ford Falcon, Econoline And Mercury Comet site and search for master cylinder upgrade you can find some photos that document this swap.

Re: 65 Comet dual master cylinder upgrade

Most any Ford master cylinder will work. Find one for a drum brake car,ie, Fairlane, Comet, Falcon, Mustang after '66.
