I'm looking to get a bigger gas tank for my '67 Falcon Sports Coupe. Currently the gas tank holds 16 gallons. I believe the '69 Australian Falcon GTHO is 36 gallon. Will this gas tank fit my Falcon?

Doubtful. The Aussie and US Falcons were the same through either 62 or 63. The Aussie Falcons were Aussie designed and different from US models after that.

The XA/B/C are unique to Australia. The XR/XT/XW/XY are based on the US 1966-70 Falcon. You can use a lot of US parts on those cars, especially the XR/XT which are almost identical to a 1966 Falcon. Interior is the main difference but suspension, most sheet metal, and glass will swap from 1966/7 US cars and the XR/XT. The XW/XY were a major facelift and most of the sheet metal is unique to those cars. Doors, roof, suspension and most glass will still interchange with the 66-70 US Falcons.

As for the fuel tank, you would need to mod the tank for a different fuel filler location. The US Falcon has the filler neck exiting the trunk at the rear while the Aussie Falcon has the filler neck exiting out the passenger side (left side) of the trunk.

Also, the Aussie tanks are measured in Imperial gallons so the 17.5gal Aussie tank is about 21 US gallons.

I don't know anything about the Aus. falcons but it must have been hard to find room for a tank that big. It would be like 4 5 gallon gas cans sitting on top of the tank you have now. Gas weighs a little over 6 pounds per gallon depending on temp. Be a fair amount of weight too. Curious to see what one would look like. They have a lot of LP powered cars over there, I wonder if it has a 36 pound LP tank. Not intending to knock your idea, I was wanting to replace the rear tank in my F150 with one from a Cab and Chassis model that's 34 gallon. Its huge, hangs down further than the spare tire that would have to be removed.

It won't work. I've got a US 66 Sports coupe here in Australia and tried to fit one. We couldn't make it work. The big tanks were originally put in for our Bathurst race, more fuel less stops. In those days they had to make 500 road cars before they could race them. I ended up with the standard tank.

I have a 67 coupe and the fuel cap is in the same place as the Aussie ones the standard aussie tank might be a little bigger as the tank comes flush the the floor but the spare tire is set into the tank there are small differences as in the shape of the trans tunnel the glove compartment is about 4 inches closer to the radio etc I know this because I'm an Australian living in California and I'm converting my coupe to an Aussie GT and have run into these things while trying to install the Aussie heater controls, floor shifted auto etc if you google ford muscle parts in New South Wales Australia they list a 36 gallon tank for the Xt falcon ( same body style as a 66 or 67 ) the GTs with the big tank also had 5 leaf heavy duty springs in the rear but even then they sit nose up a little when full !!

I'll post some if I can get iCloud to transfer from my iPhone to my iPad bought my 67 on eBay sight unseen from the second owner who had it for 16 years in San francisco, I was in Australia at the time so my wife took my truck and trailer with our son to pick it up got it for $2,500 it's an original black plate California car futura 289 auto it was originally springtime yellow with cream interior, but was painted some time ago a dark burgundy and reapolstered in a tan Color ( not to my taste) only rust was the passengers floor as the heater core must have been leaking for quite a while, it's getting painted black and the interior is going bright red, and as I said full Australian gt I've put 14x7 factory 5 slot rally wheels with 245 60 and 215 70 BFGs but am thinking of going same wheel but 15x7 on the front and 15x10 if I can fit them with 295 50s on the rear its lowered 2 inches all round changed it to factory floor shift from a gt gt grill and driving lights ceramic coated long tube headers x pipe 40 series flowmasters and 2 1/2 inch duel exhaust with alluminum heads comp cams big muther thumper cam edelbrock air gap intake and a 600 Holley the cam is very lumpy 516 lift had to put in a 2800 rpm stall converter sound cool and goes very well just about ready to make it stop fitting Kelsey Hayes 4 piston 4 wheels discs with power booster trying to get it finished for hot August nights in Reno this August

Sounds like a nice ride. My 68 has a warmed over 302 with GT40 3 bar heads, old school TRW L2249N pop up pistons a pretty decent cam (not sure on the specs cause I didn't build it) a Weiand Stealth intake and Holly 570 street avenger. I have a T5 that is going it it along with a 8.8 out of an explorer. This was my high school car. I had it for 10 years then had to sell it to buy my first house. Luckily I sold it to a friend and 10 years later I was able to buy it back from him. I had to have it back, too much sentimental value. Check, this car was in my wedding photos!! And yes, still married to the same girl.
