63.5 ford falcon sprint rally car
I thought I might share some pics of my 63.5 Falcon Sprint. I have been working on turning the car into a replica of the 1963 Geneva Rally winning Sprint. These were truly fantastic cars that participated in some of the greatest drives of all time, most importantly Bo Lungfeldt's drive at the 63 Monte Carlo Rally where he won all 6 six special stages on twisty French Alpine roads covered in snow and ice. In 63 the Falcons won the Geneva and Tulip rallies and had class wins at the Alpine and Shell 4000 rally. Pretty amazing for Ford's first major foray into European rallying! The rally cars were built by Holman Moody and then shipped out to England for final preparation.
The car has a 331, 9.5:1 compression, Tremec 5 speed , 9"rear end and discs all around. On the dyno it made 456hp at 6600rpm so it performs really nicely. It exits via Porter mufflers which sound just fantastic. Really deep and throaty, fairly mellow at idle and cruise, but at open throttle it just roars. Suspension upgrades include front and rear Konis, panhard bar and sway bar so it handles really nicely. Hope you guys like the car so far.
