9 Inch Rear End Interchange

Good Evening All,
I have a 67 Galaxie, that I would like to change my 8 inch rear end for a 9 inch rear end. Can anyone tell me what other years or vehicle models will bolt right in? I assume any full size FLM vehicle will do but mainly it is the years I am worried about.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Your 67 should have a 9" now. I don't think any 67 Galaxie ever had 8" rear ends but there may be exceptions.

It has an 8 inch in it. Even the data plate decodes that way, actually I thought that I read that it could have an 8", 9" or some sort of one piece rear end that is quite rare. I just want to beef up the rear end, I got a great deal on a 9 inch third member and want to change it over.

The WER is a rear loader (like a Chevy), there is no aftermarket support for this rear end that I was ever able to discover. I am converting over to a 9".

9" 65-68 Galaxie fits for sure. Common rear end, shouldn't be too expensive.

I think that the spring perches for the 65 are different than the 67. My springs don't bolt onto the rear or frame like the 65 does, but don't know if that would make any difference or not.

The '65 spring seats are slightly different and the '65 uses a shorter panhard bar, but that has to do with where the mount is positioned on the frame, not the rearend.

It's minor, but I think the rear brake lines are different on '65s too.
