Update on 61-64 shock and how they are hard to find.

On a previous post we talked about how the shocks for the early 60s Galaxies are hard to find. After a bunch of research I found a cross reference for the shocks designed for the 78 Lincoln Versailles. I ordered a set of KYB shocks from summit because they were about the same price as getting standard shocks locally. Any way today I pulled the old shocks and compared them to the new ones. Fully compressed they are the same length, fully extended the original units are about .5" longer. The top and bottom mounts fit perfectly. Just thought I would pass the finding along.

Thanks for getting back with that info. That'll help a lot of people looking for the rear shocks!

I wonder if they have air shocks for the same? Might have to check that out.

Some Chrysler item I got a local flea mart for $1 each is about the same dimensionally, but was unsuited. They may have mounted up OK, but rear became "Boingy" and bounced a lot.

Are the replacements as stiff or looser than originals?
