Question 390 compression

I got a new compression testing kit at HF yesterday and I can't wait to try it out. What compression should I see on a healthy 2V 390?

Re: 390 compression

click on link then save it -- you will need it later-

compression should be within a 10th of each other--

Re: 390 compression

I looked and didn't see either. So you aren't alone.

Found this in a couple places but that's bout it. This is probably as new I'm sure.

As a rule, most engines should have 140 to 160 lbs. Of cranking compression with no more than 10% difference between any of the cylinders

Wink Re: 390 compression

I finally found this in the 67 service manual

Engine Compression Ratio Compression Pressure
289 2v 9.3:1 130-170
390 2v 9.5:1 160-200
390 4v/4102v 10.5:1 170-210
427 4v/8v 11:1 160-200
428 4v 10.5:1 170-210

@ allowable tolerance between cylinders -20 psi
