And don't think for one minute that I'll be getting rid of the '70.

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

Yes I am still going to collect the car and drive it back - John is unpacking it today and I will go over with my son next week when my daughter is out of hospital with her newborn.

As I said I only have the word of the previous owner regarding the seats and console but everything else he has stated has been 100% so I am pretty sure the seats and console are packed away inside the car - I will not be using them so when I know their condition we can go from there. I think there is a new bumper as well - rear I think.

Gratz again Danv - very nice find - definately a lifetime car. There is a mint white Q code 427 in the Joondalup area owned and driven by a very nice old man - I spoke to him in the carpark of the shopping centre a few months back and he has had the car almost since new - I asked him if he cared to put a price on it hehe and he said talk to my son when I am gone - not for sale at any price - I think yours may become like that lol ....

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

I don't think I would part with this new found toy of mine. All I would want to do is make it better.

When you arrive with Jezebel, I would like to catch up, and please fill me in with the seats and the console.
I don't mind what I have in the car at the moment, but if what you have would suit me then I'd be interested. At least the console anyway.
I suggested galman to hang on and see if I wanted them first LOL!

Darryl, read it again. It says owned almost from new.

I remember hearing of one quite some years ago up in the northern suburbs, but no one I know has ever seen it.

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

Yes I will keep an update going - the car was a 64 I think and was that colour I think they call Wimbledon White and the interior is red - leather look vinyl. It had a very slight amount of bubbling atop the rear wheel arches and I think was very original - had very early white/black reg plates U beginning letters. From my talk with him I feel it is highly unlikely to ever come on the market - father to son job - just as it should be hehe. I still see it from time to time and always at or near the Joondalup Shopping Centre - always husband and wife about 70+ years of age be my guess - lovely couple and he is welded to his car lol. He gets a lot of interest about it he tells me. Oh and it is right hand drive ... he reckons it came that way ?? did they import Q's from Canada - spose anything is possible if you know the right people.

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

Just a quick update on what I have done.

After last weekend's initial clean up and drool session, this weekend was time for me to crawl under the car and see what I would find.
Starting from the back, I was very impressed with the condition of the chassis and all components under there.
Working my way to the gearbox found some oil leakage, but I don't think it'd be too serious. Under the engine was absolutely spotless!
But it was under the radiator support panel which has me a little worried. The battery tray and the panel directly below are virtually non existent, so it looks like I will need to do a bit of work there.
I was very happy with the front suspension and steering. All seemed tight, and I don't think I'll have too many worries there.

Next weekend will be a bit of a clean up of the front, removing some old grease and grime, in preparation for a lowering job.

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

Danv I have posted one of the pics that I have been sent with the archive with the car - this mod was done for the Willow Springs meets I believe but it would not be a bad mod for most cars especially if you need to make repairs there anyway - the isolation switch near the boot latch is not a bad antitheft feature too....

Re: Bought myself a '63 1/2 with 427 4 speed!

Yes that is an option to place the battery down the back.
Replacement battery trays are easily available, but the radiator support panel has me a little worried where it is rusted out below the battery area.

Yep, that looks like the way I'll be doing it.
It just looks like it's pretty tight in there, so it might take a while to get it right.
