Crites have had my money for 10 weeks and still no answer. Where can I get an alternator bracket to fit a 390 FE engine in my 64 Galaxie?

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

Does your block have the mounting hole? Do you want a hi or low mount? I have a complete set up for a high mount. It's like the one I had on my last 63 390 wagon. I would sell it for $40 plus shipping.

heres a pic of the bare engine, there appears to be a hole on the alternator side.

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

I will give a thumbs up for the C.R.A.P. brackets.

I used them on on my 390, it's a 63. I did have to massage the bracket a little, and use a few extra washers to get it to align correctly.

Not the brackets fault, was the low dollar water pump that had crappy casting on it.

I don' t know why you'd be unhappy.

PS, May I suggest a flexible top radiator hose? I got one at Napa that had the correct ends on it and was a perfect length. I can get the part number to you if you like and send you a pic.

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

thanks, they do look good, and yes the copper hose is horrible but I didnt build the car lol. I have an after market radiator which is why the previous owner used that.
I think my car used to have an alternator, did you use the CRAP alternator bracket or the gen to alt bracket they have?

I appreciate the help

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

If that's a Ford alternator then what I have will fit. But it will put the alternator in the high position. It's off of a mid 70's Ford pick up. Used a lot of them. The pulleys line up with the stock 63 pulleys.

I used the Generator to Alternator bracket. I ordered mine on eBay where they were selling them.

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

They sure don't give much info for contact or location do they. I did a search for the place and found this info. Even under payment info or shipping. You would think they'd at least give a zipcode. I might of overlooked it though. Still think that kind of info should be clearly visible.

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

thanks for the number, I couldn't find it anywhere on the site either which I thought was strange. Would all 64 galaxies have had a generator originally? I am unsure whether to buy the low mount alt bracket or buy the bracket for cars that had a gen and now run an alt?

Re: needed alternator bracket for 390 FE

Only the 427 and maybe hipo 390 equipped '64s had an alternator. But like 63ford406 mentioned, check to see that you have a mounting hole on the front of the block. Personally to be on the safe side i'd get the one for a generator equipped one in case you don't have the hole. Not to mention if it is a ford alternator I'd get the one from Richard (63ford406) rather than pay $100 for the one on that site. Save you a little bit of cash for something else that way. When i ever get around to changing mine it will be the high mount because i have the mounting stuff i saved off the engine that i put in the car along with the alternator and it was out of a truck also.
