63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

I have a friend who has a 63.5 galaxie 500 with a 427 with a 4 speed tranny. the car is good shape , inside and out . it needs to carbs on it .. what size does it take and is there a way to start it without carbs... Also what's what the value of the "BEAST" will be it's name if I purchase it..

Re: 63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

The 63.5 427 Galaxie R code is worth about $6500 bucks sitting in a field full of rat schitt and raccoon piss with bullet holes everywhere...

A WHOLE lot more if it's in good to OK condition. That is the most desirable Gal ever built in my opinion and one of the hardest to find!

Re: 63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

The carbs are Holley 700 CFM carbs. C3AE-9510 Is the original carb for it and worth about $500 bucks each... (not rebuilt)[SIZE=4]

Re: 63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

I realize you say "good shape, inside and out" but...mileage?

Um...no expert here, but seems to me you rilly rilly need some carbs to drive that thing off the lot. Lack of carbs, especially the original suckers and especially then if the motor is otherwise original, is a significant hit on value, I would say, but hardly the end of the world.

Sounds like a great car...but I am admittedly biased!

No real way to run the engine without carbs.

Re: 63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

You need 650's. With daul carbs you need to turn the cabs around backward. The reason is that the normal way you set carbs will hit the distr. It taked a different linkage too. If you go to my web site rcchesnutt.smugmug.com And click on l galaxie it has the 427 in it. Which we are starting to pull it and put in a 427 sohc ( cammer ) in it. Is that the orig. engine?

SO it will be a DAMN good deal for a $1000.00.. we used a squirt bottle and sprayed gas in the intake .. got some pops and sputters so the ole gal might still have some life.. Just hope we don't burn her to the ground .. might have to invest in 2 carbs...

Re: 63.5 galaxie 427with 4speed

If it is a numbers correct car then invest in the correct carbs. The correct numbers for an early production are C3AF 9510-C and it takes two. If it's a later one then it's C3AF-9510-BK and C3AF-9510-BJ. Check the 427 Ford Regestry. A Correctly restored 63.5 R code is worth $65000 up.

By corret numbers , you mean matching numbers and is that 65,000.00 or 6,500.00 ... so it will be worth a 1,000.00??

$65,000 and matching numbers meaning the correct carbs for that engine and car date of assembly i think is how it would be put. Late in the year use the one set up numbers for the carbs and early production use the early ones so they are correct as it would of been new not carbs for a '64 ford or '62 but exact same as it was new.

For $1000, I'll drive to Texas right now and buy it. the only trick is I would pull the heads onsight and check all numbers.
It is an excellent deal if the car is restorable, it is beyond excellent if it still has the 427 in it.

LESTER, Get your ass down there NOW and BUY that goddamn CAR!!!!!!

I tell you what. If it's an R code Galaxie, just the TITLE and door tag alone are worth $4,000 bucks!

Take it over to Jim's place and I will come collect it later this year and give you $2,000 bucks for it doubling your money!
