1969 Ford Galaxie 500 2 Door Hardtop (Fastback?)

Hello,

I'm new to this forum. I'm going to look at a 1969 Ford Galaxie 500 2 Door Hardtop. I was wondering what I should look for and in other information you can tell me. It has a 351 Windsor 2V engine and automatic transmission. I was wondering how hard it would be to find and replace an accelerator pump seal and how much for the kit. What kind of carberator it has and if it is a fastback hardtop. How much do you think its is worth. Thank you so much!!

Value i can't help you with. It is how much you want it and are willing to pay. There was a '68, running and good condition one here that sold for $1200 or that's what they were asking and it wasn't sitting there long once they put a sign on it.

Check the rear frame area for rust. Check the oil to see if there is water in it. I suppose there could be condensation but if it's sat a long time i don't think so. Poke the floors or knock on them to see if they may be rusted out under the carpet. Especially the passenger side where the heater core is.

As for the carb kit you can get a kit at autozone or just bout any parts place. Get the numbers off the tag on the carb if it's still there.

You can get the info off the door tag that will tell you just bout everything when decoded that it had originally anyway. Color, engine size, axle etc.

I agree- check that frame real close...if they dont mind, tap along the bottom front under the doors with a soft faced hammer, and in front of the rear tires- they can rot anwhere, but those are usually where it starts. even if theres no rustholes, dont be surprised if the hammer goes right thru...sadly these car's frames werent designed to drain very well, and (especially seeing it sitting in high grass keeping the underside damp) if it was EVER in roadsalt, I'd bet >90% odds the frame is going to be bad. When my mom and dad got our 69 in 1972 or so, it already had rustholes in the frame, just ahead of the rear tires - the car held together till I wrecked it in '79 but just sayin... they tended to rot faster than a chevy vega.
I would love to find one that was clean, from a saltfree area, IMO those cars had the coolest dashboard Ive ever seen (except for the stupid lefthanded radio)...

no idea on 'worth', but I'd guess IMO if the frame is OK, body very solid, even if not running somewhere in the 2k range tops. 1k probably would be as high as a lot of folks would go as its not anything special options-wise

FE could probably get it for $5

Check the door windows aren't falling out also as they will be the glue in style.

Re: 1969 Ford Galaxie 500 2 Door Hardtop (Fastback?)

Well, I have 3 69 fastbacks so I can give you a idea of current market worth.
I paid $600 for one that was a (rusted) roller with a lot of new parts included.
Second one was complete, rust free but rough, I gave a $1000 for it and in hind sight I paid to much.
Third is a 69 XL, pulled from a tree row but one saturday afternoon and it was running, it has small rust behind the rear wheels. I gave $400 for it and feel like I stole it.

It really comes down to what you are willing to pay and how bad they want to sell it. You can find them fairly easy in the $2500 and below range in decent running condition.
Certain parts for these cars are really tough to come by, there is ver little reproduction for it. The 69/70 up to this point have not been the chosen Galaxie for collectors or restorations. That said they are starting to gain intrests. The fastback has beautiful lines, I think its a matter of time and they will be popular, buy it While their cheap.
