Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Thanks! I love the stance too, but am going to drop the front just a tad. I don't like the look of the rear wheel openings stuffed to the gills with tire, but you can see the top of the tread in the front. It will have a bit more rake than necessary that way, but I just gotta cover the top of those front tires with fender a little.
Your car looks like you have a lot to work with! Nice and straight, all the brightwork appears present and intact. Relatively complete dash. Should be an awesome ride! Where about in Spokane are you? I used to live out in the valley. Now I'm in central WA. There used to be a mad Ford guy out there called Mustang Andy. Helped us a ton with our '64 1/2 Mustang.

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Okay, got the new headlight switch in. That revealed a couple burned out bulbs, but they were swapped in in no time. Now all the dash lights work! Funny thing is, all the bezels for lights, air lighter etc are fading the finish off, so they are lit a light green glow from the backlighting. Are they supposed to have some light through them?

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Should only come through at thew letters, but as the chromed plastic/finish wears thin, it will show through a bit. It did on my '64.

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Any paints "chrome" enough for a touchup? Seems I've seen some used in model car building that's pretty reflective. I'll probably just spring the $100 for the full set of new when I do the interior, but want it to look decent for now. I'm also missing the one to the right of the steering wheel. Don't know offhand what is supposed to be on it.

Yes that's a quote from my previous dialog, but did not come up as a forum quote, but was just cut and pasted. His other 3 posts are single line relies as well. Didn't check if they were copy paste though.

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Oh yeah! Snagged a set of new dash bezels for a great price off Ebay. Someone bought them for a restoration that didn't use them. Got them for a substantial savings so I can check that off the list! Also ordered the trunk mat. Getting the PCV working next.
I pulled a couple plugs and realized I have the outer carbs too restricted on the idle circuit as evidenced by them being noticeably lighter than the centers. I'll open up my super restrictors some, and close the center screws more to balance it out.

I'm Northwest Spokane, Indian Trail area. The car does have some damage on the RR quarter that needs to be fixed. I actually got this car from a lot in Sacramento, CA which in turn got the car from an insurance auction. It's got 41,000 miles on it but was in an accident, wiping out the front clip. I've got a pristine clip sitting in my shop waiting to go on it. It's an original C code car (289) but were going 428 power when it's put back together. Paid $500 for the car and sold the 289 out of it to a friend with a 6-banger Mustang for $250.

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Okay, I just added a bunch of new info to my website, and don't feel like doing it all again here. Just go to the link in my sig, and check out "The Galaxie" page. I'll post notifications here when I do page updates there. It's worth the look, cool stuff!

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Okay, stroke or not, I'm still chipping at the car! Well, I guess we know the "not" option is invalid, but you get the point, lol. I posted some updates on my site...

Re: New Galaxie Guy!
Got the new leaf springs in, what a difference! The height came up only about 1/2", which I like better, but much firmer and tight riding.
Got new new exhaust in too, not without problems. Sanderson headers, 3" full mandrel bent extensions tapering down to 2 1/2". Dumps under the floor. A 3" balance pipe is behind the trans, in the 2 1/2" sections. Wanted to maximize the effect. I'd bet I picked up a good 10lbs of torque at the "sweet" spot, around 2000-2500. Even though the headers are shorties, they clearly outperform the Hooker Super Comps, and no fenderwell/frame wraparound, and the exhaust doesn't hang below the frame.
Sounds thundering, but not too much. Clearly built, but still cruiseable. I'll get some pics up after I fix the uneven muffler thing. Maybe an idle video?
1" sway bar coming up next!
