Why is that?

That's cool man. Looks like you scored a great car! Looks clean from the pictures I have seen. I am still learning mine just like you are, though I have had mine way longer. I was separated from it for a long time so I am a little behind the curve.

I have actually never had a car with ignition on the left side. not even my 72 maverick. its so strange!

It is a really great car. has all the trim (except the 500 on the gas cap cover) ashtray is full of replacement knobs and it came with all the original parts that came off the car. (intake, headlights, fuel pump, generator, carb, ect ect ect.)

there should be
2 pull knobs for fresh air..leaft and right side
1 for wiper motor.. turn for wiper , pull for window washer...
1 for headlight
1 cigarette lighter
that's what my 64 has...63 should be the same . just in a different arrangement/location

I always forget the '63 key is on the left side! Only thing i remember is the background of the radio and gauges is black instead of the white or whatever color '64s might be called. I kinda like the black. I like the quarter on the key chain.
