I have a 1966 Ford LTD 390 with Factory a/c and am in search of a small plastic piece on the firewall. The piece is black and about 2 inches by 3 inches with two plastic vacuum nipples on either side and a big hole in the center for the cable running from the heater switch. I have been told it is the same part for all full size 65-68 factory a/c cars. Unfortunately one of the nipples broke off mine and I took it off to repair it...and misplaced it...so I don't have a photo. If anyone has one, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
If nobody happens to have one, could somebody just share the part number? I don't know the proper name for it, so a number would really help me in my searches...
That's a bit of an esoteric part to have as a spare part. I was curious as to a part number so I had a look see at the parts catalog, seems like they list/show every part except that one. Unless it was right in front of my face
I have two galaxies currently without the engine installed, I could remove that part and take some pictures with dimensions if you wanted to make one. Some thoughts that pervade my noodle are you could 3D print a new part if you knew someone who had CAD skills and a 3D printer. I see many people printing Yoda heads so a simple plate with nipples couldn't be that complex.
Or you could use copper or brass plate with copper tubes sweat soldered into it for the nipples with a hole and a grommet for the Bowden cable.
Thank you so much for replying. If you could post a few photos with dimensions, that would be greatly appreciated!
I will likely end up making my own out of copper or maybe some sort of plastic if I can't find one. That seems like the easiest way, as I am neither fluent with 3D printers, nor do I have access to one.
Looks to me to be a little bigger than 1" x 2", a six-sided plate (outlined) under the A/C hose. . there is one screw visible and I assume there is another on the other side.
Let me know if you still need one - I believe I still have one with three of the four tabs still in tact. Anyone have an entire A/C fiberglass box assembly in good repair?
I did make an attempt at producing the piece. I was not happy with the result, so I continued my hunt at a local junkyard where I was able to find one still in tact.
Thank you again!
