front bench seat removal

Hi, all,

It's been a few years since I've posted, but I've been busy working on and driving my 63 convertible. Rebuilt the engine and tranny and am now on to the interior.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the front bench seat on a 63? I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks in advance!

Re: front bench seat removal

On my '64 it's super easy - just four bolts that screw upwards from under the floor into nuts that are welded to the seat brackets.

Re: front bench seat removal

yea, and after that, take a healthy shanked screwdriver and use that to remove your seat belt bolts. Don't look for any modern belt replacements that have your original type ends, they don't make them. I'm going to use small stainless steel shackles to marry my new belts to the old eyes.

Re: front bench seat removal

Got the seats out. On the 63 the nuts are actually in the interior of the car, not underneath.

No seatbelts on mine, but a guy from the local Galaxie club who disassembles planes for a living gave me a set of lap belts from a DC-10 that I'm going to install. Should work perfectly!
