Re: Windshield glass

65 to 67 front glass are the same for HT and Conv. Different glass for post cars. Per the interchange manual listed in the dropbox post.

Unsure if they are the same or not but safelite does still sell a window for the 66 fastback. I purchased one brand new and had them install it at their shop. Now my vision is crystal clear.

Hello,

They are different indeed. I went to purchase a new windscreen for a '66 hardtop and was given the glass for the pillared model instead.

The difference is the crown and height of the glass. It's subtle, but no way interchangeable. You'll also notice the new glass is thinner and weighs less than the original glass.

Cheers

Thanks!!
I found a good one on a 4 door sedan in a antique car salvage yard last week and if they were the same I wanted to grab it. Not sure what Safelite charges, but just to order one by the time it's shipped to me is about $450 just for the glass. I bought a rear glass last week just for "insurance" in case mine gets busted while it's out for paint.
Thanks

In case you were wondering, I found the paperwork for my window from Safelite. It was $353.45 installed with a lifetime warranty.
