68 Starter Solenoid Relay Source

Looking for the source for a good quality starter solenoid relay for my 68. As usual I'm finding conflicting information online as to what part fits my application. I want to get a Motorcraft part rather than the $13 auto parts store crap that I've got right now. It looks like the Ford part number is C7AF-11450 (not a Galaxie number but all the websites say consistently that that number fits Galaxie but all of them are also the cheep stuff) but I also get some sites that say the Motorcraft number is either SW-3 or SW-7663 and, again, some sites say those numbers will work and others say they don't. I've gotten burned a couple of times with parts that say "direct fit for your application" but when you get them they aren't so I'm trying to avoid that mistake again. Anyone have any luck finding good quality relays for a 68?

Budman, any chance you could paste a link? I can't find the item on Mac's web site. I do find solenoids for $46 and 1 for $13 but not the $26 you mention.

I found one on their website but it said it was discontinued and didn't have a price.

There is one listed on eBay though. From what I understand, the seller buys discontinued parts and if it doesn't have the original packaging he calls it Spark House brand- maybe a play on his eBay name. I never did business with this company so use your own discretion.

The picture clearly shows it being a Motorcraft solenoid.

Re: 68 Starter Solenoid Relay Source

Thanks for all the great information. I guess my question now is are B6AZ-11450, C7AF-11450, D2AF-11450 all the same?

Re: 68 Starter Solenoid Relay Source

Up until Ford went to electronic ignition starter solenoid were all basically the same. Sometimes they would change some small part in the solenoid and would update the part number. Almost always the original solenoid will outlast the car it was mounted on. Ford starter solenoids are probably the most unneeded part replaced on Ford cars.
