Thinking about taking out isolators on my 63 and raise rear up a bit. Anyone done this and what was the ride height difference afterwards?
Thinking about just welding a washer into spring pad to center bolt, how did any of you do it when you omited the isolators?
Thanks for the replies

Are you talking about the ones between the springs and rear end housing? If so they keep the rear end housing centered on the spring center bolt. Also you will need new u-bolts if you have the stock shoulder bolts. And it might rise it up 1/4". IMO not worth the trouble.

You mentioned a spring centre bolt so I assume that you are you talking about the strips of rubber that the use of place between the leaf springs?

If yes, the strips of rubber are supposed to reduce the potential for a squeaking sound as a different leafs rub against each other as the springs worked up and down.

I do not like welding anything onto leaf springs. One problem is increased brittleness next to the weld if the spring is not tempered properly after the welding.

There are different spacer kits available that will raise the back of your car however I have no specific experience on what to use for your galaxie.

Good luck with your project.

I was not going to weld on the spring, i was talking about the pad on the axle housing and tacking a thick washer on it to shrink the hole to fit the center bolt head on the spring to center it
