454 *CHEVY!* engine into a FOX Mustang???

Is it possible to install a 454 Big Block Chevy into a ford fox body chassis?
**ive already got a 1989 4 cylinder mustang LX for FREE**
-is there a kit?
-would the suspension be relocated?
-what about the rack & pinion steering?
-firewall mutilaiton?
-chevy or ford transmission??
-is this thing really possible?!@!, or more important:
-has someone else done it?

the engine is a 4 bolt main, "industrial" engine (claim made by the company which bulids propane engines from scratch) in my propane truck i cant register for some strange legal? reason. The engine is outstanding, power, reliability, always clean fluids...seems like a likely candiate...

the car will be for 1/8 mile only

it can be done. you dont need to change the suspension as the chevy already has a rear sump oil pan. you may have to notch the firewall for distributor clearance. i would also run a turbo 400 as it bolts to the engine.

Put the 454 into a corvette, then tip it up on it's roof and use it as boat, you already have the anchor.

What the f#ck is wrong with you?! Come to the "FORDMUSCLE" website and ask some dumbass question like that. I dont care chevy or ford to tell u the truth i even have a 67 Camaro but.......lol i would never be so insulting as to ask how well a 350 ran with bla bla bla. Wake up man put a 460 in it. Its a better motor anyways.

I kindly ask that this ridiculous topic recieves no more replies. I simply don't want to see it at the top of the forum list again. It's a disgrace to Ford. And all the chevy lovers would probably say it's a disgrace to put a chevy engine into a Ford.

HI ALL
Realax on the kid..
I'm sure its a kid as he didn't know Ford or chitty tranny to use on a chitty motor.
I would say put a 460 in it as you will start with 5 more cubes. I will admitt that the performance parts will be more expencive because its not a chitty. The more performance fords we get out there the better parts will be to get. Besides it won't be a ford anymore it you chity-a-fide it I'm not sure what it will be.. I get so upset at all the ford rods out there with chitty motors in them I think thats YOU WANT A FORD ROD THEN RUN IT FORD!!! You want to run a chitty motor then put it in a chitty car..
Just my .02
Tim

Why not just ease up on the guy? If he wants to do it, let him. If you do not want to help, or cannot help...just dont reply. Greg Cook has had the same problem (not here) with people saying, "Why did you do that?" I believe his answer was something like, "Because it is mine, and I want to do it the way that I wanted to." ease up on the guy...sheesh!

RESPONSE TO "chilly460"

The purpose should be clear to you ... it is for SPEED, mister. Annoying people? your assumption is annoying! What would YOU do with a FREE 4-bolt main propane 454 and a FREE '89 LX 4-banger.... and dont say you'd melt 'em down & make 4 hondas

Its simply economics, friend.

Unless you are going to give me this camaro you are talking about, cuz i dont see it! And why are you writing when you have nothing of use to say?!?!
And really, how foolish is it to blab, 'oh youre TRYING to annoy...' When it is an automotive question of pertinence?

I can respect any car that is built to go fast. I'd MUCH rather look over a 10 second Chevy 'sleeper' than a 100% original car show queen that never gets it's engine turned over.

If I had a FREE 454 and a FREE 4cyl mustang... and not much money to spend, I'd look into 'breeding' the two.

Only thing, since there are probably no inexpensive 'swap kits' or headers out there, it's probably not going to be as 'budget' as you'd like. Unless you're a master fabricator, it's either going to be a half a$$ job, or you're going to spend a ton of money trying to make it 'right'.

But I like the way you think.

Good Luck!
