The same guy has three of them listed. I know his statement about D3VE heads will draw mocking, but someone might get a nice deal if his reserve isn't too high.

I wouldn't touch that motor for that kind of reserve!!! That would be a little too much for a buy-it-now option in my opinion.
I wonder how his "race trucks" fared? That is a pretty low performance build in my opinion. If he wastes everything on the street with one of those in his pickup then he must have some pretty sorry competition!!!
I can't see an ex-Rousch engine builder picking these components to go together. A weiand dual plane with a cam thats good for 5200rpm? In addition 9 to 1 compression is pretty wimpy but I guess it matches the flow potential of the heads and does match the cam.
You can build one alot better for a lot cheaper than that and I do love the D3VE statement LOL. Aren't those the open chamber heads or are those the D2VEs? I would love to see the flow numbers!! I really dont see how he spent 4500 on that engine. I mean really add up the parts there and there is no way unless he spent well over a thousand for machine work (which he could of if he got swindled). I do however understand why he sold his race trucks LOL.
I would be hard-pressed to bid 1500 bucks on that thing. For 4500 bucks I would at least expect some better heads or an aftermarket crank and rods.

I think if he's asking near the price he's suggesting it cost he should have pics of the intake and valve covers off at least. Don't you guys? The intake doesn't appear to even be bolted so wouldnt' be difficult at all.
I didn't read carefully before posting the link. I didn't see his reserve price, so I was thinking maybe it could be picked up for half that. So, no I don't think it is a very good deal even though I posted it.
D3VE's have a large closed chamber. D2VE's were open. But, according to what I read, D3VE's are really constrcted on flow, especially on the exhaust side. There are quite a number of guys that claim they get great numbers out of them with home porting, but I'm not aware of anyone backing it up with dyno numbers.
The "D3VE heads actually flow as good as SCJ heads" statement on that auction pretty much sums up what an idiot he is and to stay away from anything he ever sells. He lies almost as bad a Kerry
