Not that I'm aware of....If the cleaning solutions and things to mask the smell don't work...it's rip out the sheetrock, carpets, and furnishings and replace.
They did used to make a special salve to rub in and around your nose to kill the sense of smell when you have to work in a situation like that, to remove bodies or whatever.....
Nowdays I have oil of cinnimon or wintergreen on the trucks to put on a dustmask and we wear them on-scene.

The good part i suppose, is that the '64 heater box is pretty easy to remove to clean it out.

Re: Help! Rat died in my truck heater system.
So, here you are, the only guy on the forums with a real rat rod... and you rip-out everything that made it special. The rat rod community is horrified. I wonder—what Ed Roth would have to say about it?

Re: Help! Rat died in my truck heater system.
Searched for some clues to get cigarette smell out of truck that I bought, and came across the ground coffee thing, also white vinegar in a pan, and crumpled up newspaper under the seats to absorb the smell. It worked great for me.

Re: Help! Rat died in my truck heater system.
Newspaper is great stuff. I have used it many times to get smells out of tupperware and other things, it works great. For that kind of stuff wadding it up in there and putting the lid on it... The stuff does absorb the smells. Maybe some of it is cause it absorbs the moisture from the air also

Ammonia is also very good at removing odors. it can even be better than the chlorine in bleach, and I've found it easier to clean away after, so you don't have to smell the ammonia, or chlorine.

This thread is pretty much dead but just in case someone wants more ideas here's another thread on the topic. Those ion generator things sound like they would be the shiznit for lots of things.
