48 years and counting

Another click of the annual clock. It's now 48 years since I bought my 64 Galaxie. 2016 wasn't a very productive year.

Mileage, 218,734. That's only a 479 mile increase from last January. At this rate, 220,000 mile benchmark looks like a "definite maybe".

Bad year for car shows. Heat was terrible. First time I've ever left a show early just because it was too hot. Heat definitely affected the attendee turnout at some shows.

No trophies. I'm not surprised. A paint job done in 1980 can't last forever. Besides, there's no room in my trophy cabinet. But, she still gets a lot of lookers, and that's what it's all about.

Anyway, here's to 2017.

Too bad I didn't capture pics from my Galaxie 500 to 500XL cloning project, but that was in the early 80's. That was a multi year, multi state junkyard project.

I'm in north Jersey. While we never hit triple digits where I live, we've never had our house house A/C run continuously as we did this year, and we've been in this house since 1980.

Car shows on black top parking lots were brutal.

This Galaxie would definitely turn my head! I love the color! I hit up some sweltering SoCal car shows in 2016 but none that resulted in me leaving early. That Jersey heat must be no joke!

Re: 48 years and counting

The one show i went to that we all thought would be super hot turned out to have a nice breeze. It was warm but we had 2 canopys up and i even carried a fan and inverter just in case but we never used the fan. Never carried one with me before but that's my plan if it's hot like that again. The breeze and a nice shaded air tunnel helped a lot.

Always be yourself, because the people that matter don't mind, and the ones who mind, don't matter.

Very nice, I like the full wheel covers, but that's just me. Only had my Gal 43.
