I am putting the lower intake back on my 1990 5.0 and need to know if i put gasket sealer on only the water ports or all of them? I am using felpro gaskets non cork for the application. also which side of the gasket does the sealer get applied on...The side of the heads (Block side) or the intake side.
Thanks for the time.

I use Copper Spray-a-Gasket that is made by permatex on almost all of my gaskets.

I believe the proper way to use it is to coat the gasket and then allow it to dry 5-7 minutes then apply the second coat and install as normal. I always coat both sides of the gasket(intake, cylinder head, and exhaust gaskets)

It is also supposed to fill any abnomalities that may exist in the surfaces.

super silicon rtv is the way to go and on the rear seal area you may use only the silicon, bead it up well allow to set for 2 minutes and install manifold, as far as the gasket apply on both sides.. allow to bead 2 minutes as well and install..this will allow for any abnormalities in the gasket surface..its a great product and many times I have used only the rtv sealant, transpan gaskets, rear end covers..use blue for other then high heat, use red for high heat..al
