We are putting an '88 5.0 with an AOD in our '66 Mustang. The NDS switch on the trans has four wires, one of which is black. I can not find anything on what the black wire is for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest is to verify function with an ohm meter. The switch gives Neutral Safety and Reverse Lights. One pair of wires will conduct only in Reverse - that is your Reverse Light switch pair. That makes the other pair your Neutral Safety pair.
