Harness help please

Arrgh. I hope someone can help me with this. I can never get to a gt mustang at the local picknpull in this area before the harness/computer are quickly gone. There are however 2 of the lincoln mk 7 cars. In fact I have the engine/tranny out of a "90 mk7 (same 5.0 HO as the mustang)rebuilt and running well in my '66 mustang with an edelbrock 600 carb. Put the engine together after the machine shop checked the block/crank. Also rebuilt the tranny myself with the dvd from badshoe. I went to the pnpull to get the computer/harness and got the computer but could not find where the harness exits from the firewall. Anyone help me on this? I'll be happy with the sd over efi so that's not a problem. Thanks, Gary

Re: Harness help please

Keep in mind for future upgrades, SD is not as forgiving as MA. The Mark VII wiring harness goes through the firewall at the upper, passenger side. Click on the image below, the engine harness is in red.

The harness is held onto the firewall by a large rubber gasket/o-ring. It is deisgned to be pushed in from the engine side, and will NOT easily come out. You might want to bring some WD40, and in the worst case, a razor blade.

Re: Harness help please

Lincoln harness is tied into the main harness you will have to gut the car to get it out! been done that! I then threw that harness away and went with mustang harnesses..too much work IMHO to separate out what you need.

Re: Harness help please

There are a few Mustang scrap yards that will sell you a harness.
Prestige Mustang in Atlanta Ga is one. I would get a mass air harness from a 92-93.

There are also some aftermarket companys that sell new harness.

Re: Harness help please

Thanks for the replies fellows. I'm sorry I did not get back to ya'll in a timely fashion as I got really sick with something or other called diverticulitis. Sucked big time and about died. I finally got straightened out and normal again...lol I never even heard of this mess before and dang sure thought I was going to die for awhile. It's kind of like having a massive infection in the gut. I should be able to get back on this efi stuff again. I could not budge that rubber grommet thing at the salvage yard, but I did not know it went from outside to the inside. I am not looking to make some large upgrades on the engine, just a smooth running efi for better gas mileage too. I already have the computer/dist/upper lower intakes/etc to do this as they came with the '90 5.0 HO. I am just trying to use what I already have.
