Re: 69 Fairlane 500 Fastback
well my body parts search is over, there are two other things i want to do to the body of this car but those are both very special readily available projects.

Re: 69 Fairlane 500 Fastback
alright well i finally got some time to work on my car a bit
added the rear sway bar and a set of overload shocks to the rear after settling i definitely like the stance of this car alot better. (sits about 1/2 lower than in the pictures now)
before
after
also had an odd encounter the other day...got home from some classes at the college and decided to go take a ride in the 69...grabbed the passenger door handle was about to open it and looked down...to my horror there was a SKUNK in the passenger floor board of my car. scared the living crap out of me...needless to say i tied a whole bunch of belts together wrapped them around the door handle and clicked the door open just a bit. ended up getting about 40 feet away and inside the garage...as i was closing the garage door i pulled the belts to open the door to the 69. turned on my garage radio and ran inside...went out 2 hours later and i was lucky enough that the thing was missing and did not spray my car...

Re: 69 Fairlane 500 Fastback
Yeh that's a ranchero only bumper. They put the turns signals down in the holes on the left and right. And the lights on the fenders are only marker lights. I dont know why ford did it. That's why I put a torino bumper on my ranchero.
What did you have to do to get the 18's to fit?

Not just a Ranchero bumper, but a one year only, '69 Ranchero bumper!
It's strange, usually I see it the other way around, with '69 Ranchero with the standard Fairlane/Torino bumpers on 'em. I figured that ages ago, ppl probably bent up the original one, and found the much more common '68 bumper.

Re: 69 Fairlane 500 Fastback
Are you saying that you did the Shelby drop on the front end? If so, how?
I tried it on my Ranchero and found that I couldn't, as the shock tower gets narrower just above the frame rail, unlike Mustangs, where the shock tower goes straight down.
Could you post a pic of the lowered a-arm?

yep i knew about the bumper but it was the only one at the junkyard...figured id mess it up later and use the dips for the air induction setup i have in mind. the lenses i left with the car since i didnt want them anyways.
nothing really. smaller height tires and the right offset. 265/35r18 fronts, 275/35r18 rears. in the near future the 275s are going to go up front and the back will be replaced with 315/30r18s

Well, that's just wonky. I tried doing that exact same thing on my Ranchero and ran into this:
That's the upper a arm trying to fit into the holes that I've already drilled in the shock tower. Doesn't quite fit as the pivot shaft on the a arm is just a hair too wide, at least with the grease zerks on it. Perhaps your arm doesn't have zerks screwed into it? Also notice how the shock tower itself gets narrower as it meets the frame rail, this is where Fairlanes are different than Mustangs. Mustang shock towers go straight down to the frame rail.
I assume yours looks the same as this?
Thanks!
